From my personal
perspective, the popularity of the game, to a large extent, is because the
popularity of iPhone, since this game is designed for the game players who use
the touch-screen phone. To be honest, I do not think this game is really
interesting and challenging. If it was first released as a PC game, I do not
think it would become really popular, since this game is just so simple
compared with other PC games, no matter from the way of playing or the
storyline of this game. But for the touch-screen phone owners, simplicity is
the best thing, since the screen is small and there is no mouse and keyboard to
use to control a relative complex game. The
simplicity, from my perspective, provide the possibility for players to immerse
in this game, since if it was a game hard to control and play by the iPhone owners,
and then how the players would be immersed in playing it as an amusement. Also,
Angry Bird should be considered as a really earlier game app for Apple’s iOS. Based on what I currently
know is, at that time there is not enough game app that can be chosen by the
phone owners. So after this game was released in Apple's App Store, many phone
owners would like to try and play it. And then there was trend among all iPhone
owners which is you have to play Angry
Bird. It is just like fashion which is something that you have to follow.
Along with the popularity of iPhone, more and more people play this game. At
the same time more and more people want to play it, but they do not have the
access to play it. We all know that iPhone’s Apps are all exclusive, which
cannot be downloaded by other smartphones. The desire of playing absolutely prompted
the popularity of this game. This can be considered as the
shared involvement, since you always want to be “in” the social network. In the end, I
want to say that whether or not a game can be successful and popular, to a
large extent, not only depends on the technology, but also depends on the
social network around you.

Angry Bird
Angry Bird was an extremely popular smartphone game in one or
two years ago. The game was first released for Apple's iOS, and then with its
popularity, the company designed versions for other touchscreen-based smartphones
including the Android, Symbian, and Windows Phone operating systems; it also
expanded to video game consoles and for PCs (Wikipedia). Besides, currently there
are a variety of series and editions of Angry
Brid for its all gameplayers. Also, overall the world we can find many
other not only media products related to Angry Birds, such as TV series and movies, but also merchandise
about this game, such as plush toy, T-shirt and even softdrink. We
should say that, currently Angry Bird
is not only a game but a brand which is loved by many people.

I saw an add today that used Angry Birds to promote Windows 8. I'm not sure what the marketing angle was here but I found it interesting that the game is so well known and universal that it can be used that way. Another interesting point about the add was that a young girl was playing it rather than the stereotyped teenager that is often featured
