So there's a post on Reddit at the moment (first page of r/gaming) about Anita Sarkeesian, the woman whose Ted talk we watched in class last week:
Head over there and you can see the bigotry, in action, in real time! You could even wade in to the fray, I'm sure everyone will listen to your opinion once you mention you are a university student.

DAE wonder if she would choose the 100 duck-sized horses, or the single horse-sized duck?
ReplyDeleteWould definitely want to see her AMA.

woops, thanks danliu
ReplyDeleteI hate being 'that guy', but I've made the exact same mistake so many times before. Know the feel bro.
ReplyDeleteI saw that post too! I have to confess I don't actually understand why there was so much backlash over her project. Not just from a female perspective, but from a logical and a practical one. Was there some sort of fear that she would alter video games to a point that would make them 'boring' and 'unplayable' (virtually - excuse the pun)? Or that her awareness campaign would result in more industry restrictions? I rlly don't get it.
ReplyDeleteOk this reply is waaay late, but I totally wonder the same thing as you. You could say "well these attackers aren't thinking rationally", but even if it's "crazy" reasoning they must have had some reason as to why they wanted to specifically stop the video series being made.
