MMO addiction

After the tutorial fully understood why my brother have zoned out expressions all the time and get frustrated when they get told to simply do a chore because their head spaces are still immersed in the game, But I never thought it would be so intense . This is explains why dinner is scoffed down and then straight back to the computer. Whether it is unhealthy or not it does affect their whole day because during the holidays there is no leaving the computer chair, even a trip to the bathroom is made in such a hurry. I always wondered what they need to get back to. They must be missing out on something on Warcraft 3..."DOTA" is what often gets shouted as they abuse each other from across the room, yell at other players and laugh at the mishaps of the game. But I have noticed how the older one delegates missions to the other, is there a theory for this? using a sibling or using another person to do the boring missions or things that help level up ect. These observations have been more interesting and relatable as the course went on and now as MMO's are discussed it creates a whole new reason to understand the inner workings of theses games in order to understand why or how absorbed a person can get. Time is always un-negotiable because very second you arn't at home, something within the game world hapens, do people feel disapoitned they were out with people or out doing an errand to miss out on an event? is this level of dissapointment the same as a situation in reality? or possibly more?. I hope the video game paper gets rescheduled because as a form of new media, no one takes it seriously but surely one day people will notice how important online interaction within games is, and how this affects people socially and economically.
